SIX60

He Waka Kōtuia were lucky enough to be a part of the Powhiri to welcome Otago University Alum Six60 into the new performing arts centre Te Korokoro o te Tūī. It was at this Pōwhiri it was announced that Six60 had bought their old flat six60 Castle Street and are working with the university to provide four $10,000 scholarships to go towards potential performing arts students.

There was not a lot of room for HWK to perform but our rangatahi handled themselves like true professionals. It is performances like this that help build performance experience and become more comfortable in front of an audience.

It is great for rangatahi to get to know familiar faces around the University of Otago through doing events such as these. We hope that having experiences like this at the University of Otago will leave them with fond memories as well as help them make decisions around their tertiary education.

After the Pōwhiri the rangatahi got the chance to have a look at the six60 flat and meet the band and it was everything you would have expected!
