Kia Kūrapa ki Puketeraki - 29 Feb-1 March 2020

These events help us immensely in a number of ways. Firstly as fundraising, catering is great way to build up your funds and although it can be quite tiring and stressful in the case of Kura Reo ki Te Waipounamu, these smaller catering events are much more relaxed. Secondly we can bring more of our rakatahi through to help in the kitchen and to help manaaki the people we are catering for. This is an experience that not many of the young Māori who are not from Ōtākou or Puketeraki are privy to, unless they regularly return to their own marae.

It was great to have Te Paea, Whetu and Jordyn back to support this kaupapa and Abby who as a current Titirei, they have all contributed greatly over their time in the group. It was especially awesome to have Vanessa, Merle and Cairo in their first time helping to cater. The girls had great energy and it's a great time for the tutors to get to know these girls and for them to get to know us outside of kapa haka practice.
